eNewsletter Issue I - 2004Part One: INTRO Part Two: ATTRACTION Part Three: BUSINESS COACHING GYM Part Four: RESOURSES Part One: INTRO
I am so excited about the launch of my new website, www.businesscoachinggym.com and my eNewsletter, Attracting Success, I can barely contain myself. Business coaching and the power it brings to individuals and companies is limitless; and, I love being a part of it. With the right support there is nothing a person can't achieve. As Henry Ford once said, "Those who think they can, and those who think they can't, are both right."
Many of you know me and many more don't. So, for those who do, please bear with me as I get the boring part of introducing myself out of the way. I am Cindy Saxman Spivack, 46 years old, married, mother of 4, from Northbrook, Illinois. I have been in the commercial real estate field forever (25 years) spending the last 14 years leasing for Robin realty & Management and the last three/four years coaching people on producing breakthrough results. I hired my first coach about 7 years ago - Leo Weidner. I decided to hire a business coach to help me move to my next level of success more quickly while becoming incredibly organized in the process. Leo and I worked together for 3 years and while this eNewsletter isn't long enough to cover all of the things I accomplished as a result I will tell you Leo was a big believer in creating a life vision and then going after one gigantic goal each year. And so, being the high achiever am, I took this very seriously. Year one, I decided I wanted to purchase a summer house where my family could vacation together and enjoy an incredible quality of life. a place where we could really enjoy being a family together. And, 12 months later I did. We bought a vacation house in South County, Rhode Island -truly America's best kept secret. The next year I decided to run a marathon because every great runner (ha ha) should run at least one marathon. And, I did that too with Leo chuckling at me the whole time wondering what would possess a person to have a marathon as a number one goal. And, the third and last year we worked together, a partner and I purchased a piece of commercial property (land) that I affectionately refer to as "college" because it is under contract to be sold to a developer and when we close the profit will be banked in order to send my kids to college. But the real value I got from achieving my one gigantic goal each year was the knowledge that all goals are attainable. I discovered new results require new actions and recognized results are what I value. Reaching these goals became more effortless each year because along the way I learned how to attract success into my life. After all the law of attraction says, "We attract who we are" and I wanted to be successful. Attraction is a skill set that you can develop that will attract the best clients/customers, ideas, and opportunities to you. Attraction is success without striving and who doesn't want that. And because I so firmly believe in the Laws of Attraction and how practicing them makes life easier, I have named my eNewsletter, Attracting Success. Each issue will talk about what it is and how to have it. So, here's to Attracting Success.
Part Two: ATTRACTION
What is attraction? Attraction is a skill set that you can develop which will attract the best clients, people, ideas, and opportunities to you. Attraction is success without striving. There are 28 principles of Attraction, 10 of which I reveal in my discussion. Implementing these principles regularly will dramatically increase one's ability to consistently accomplish and Attract Success effortlessly. Attraction is the opposite of promotion/seduction. To be attractive means stuff comes to you. Adding value, relating well and serving are attractive. A "makeover" is usually needed to be fully attractive. Attract clients rather then go after them. Why be attractive? People I know who operate their business effortlessly exhibit many of these principles. Sometimes when family and friends see us living by these principles they don't understand, they see it as luck. Attraction is a skill set that you can develop which will attract the best people (clients), ideas, and opportunities to you. Attraction is success without striving; it's natural, effortless. There are two ways to get things done. 1. Set a goal and go for it. 2. Have things land on your lap effortlessly. You don't force attraction (it is not a strategy). You must be in the flow for it to happen. When you are in the flow, everything just clicks effortlessly. You just catch the bus as soon as you arrive at the bus stop for example. By nature the attraction principles allow us to attract good things to us. It is not a success program. Below are the 28 Principals of Attraction and regularly implementing these principals will dramatically increase one's ability to consistently accomplish and attract success effortlessly. THE 28 PRINCIPLES OF ATTRACTION 1. BECOME INCREDIBLY SELFISH. WITHOUT YOU, THERE IS NOTHING, AND ATTRACTION ISN'T POSSIBLE. 2. UNHOOK YOURSELF FROM THE FUTURE. ATTRACTION WORKS IN THE PRESENT, NOT IN THE FUTURE. 3. OVERRESPOND TO EVERY EVENT. BY OVER-RESPONDING INSTEAD OF OVERREACTING, YOU EVOLVE, WHICH IS VERY ATTRACTIVE. 4. BUILD A SUPERRESERVE IN EVERY AREA. HAVING ENOUGH IS NOT NEARLY ENOUGH FOR YOU TO BE IRRESISTIBLY ATTRACTIVE. 5. ADD VALUE JUST FOR THE JOY OF IT. WHEN YOU ADD VALUE BECAUSE YOU ENJOY IT, PEOPLE ARE NATURALLY ATTRACTED TO YOU. 6. AFFECT OTHERS PROFOUNDLY. THE MORE YOU TOUCH OTHERS, THE MORE ATTRACTIVE YOU'LL BECOME. 7. MARKET YOUR TALENTS SHAMELESSLY. IF YOU'RE EMBARRASSED ABOUT WHAT YOU DO WELL, YOU WON'T BE VERY ATTRACTIVE. 8. BECOME IRRESISTIBLY ATTRACTIVE TO YOURSELF. HOW CAN YOU ATTRACT OTHERS IF YOU DON'T FEEL IRRESISTIBLY ATTRACTIVE TO YOURSELF? 9. GET A FULFILLING LIFE, NOT JUST AN IMPRESSIVE LIFESTYLE. A GREAT LIFE IS ATTRACTIVE; A LIFESTYLE IS USUALLY SEDUCTIVE. 10. DELIVER TWICE WHAT YOU PROMISE. WHEN YOU CONSISTENTLY DELIVER MORE THAN WAS EXPECTED, NEW CUSTOMERS ARE DRAWN TO YOU. 11. CREATE A VACUUM THAT PULLS YOU FORWARD. BEING PULLED FORWARD IS ATTRACTIVE; PUSHING FORWARD IS NOT. 12. ELIMINATE DELAY. TIME IS EXPENSIVE AND THUS IS VERY UNATTRACTIVE. 13. GET YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS MET, ONCE AND FOR ALL. IF YOU HAVE UNMET NEEDS, YOU'LL ATTRACT OTHERS IN THE SAME POSITION. 14. THRIVE ON THE DETAILS. SUBTLETIES, DETAILS AND NUANCES ARE MORE ATTRACTIVE THAN THE OBVIOUS. 15. TOLERATE NOTHING. WHEN YOU PUT UP WITH SOMETHING, IT COSTS YOU. COSTS ARE EXPENSIVE AND THUS UNATTRACTIVE. 16. SHOW OTHERS HOW TO PLEASE YOU. DON'T MAKE THEM GUESS. 17. ENDORSE YOUR WORST WEAKNESSES. WHEN YOU CAN ACCEPT AND HONOR THE WORST PART OF YOURSELF, YOU ARE MORE ACCEPTING OF OTHERS. 18. SENSITIZE YOURSELF. THE MORE YOU FEEL, THE MORE YOU'LL NOTICE AND RESPOND TO THE MANY OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PRESENT. 19. PERFECT YOUR ENVIRONMENT. THE ATTRACTION OS IS A SOPHISTICATED SYSTEM THAT REQUIRES A FIRST-CLASS ENVIRONMENT. 20. DEVELOP MORE CHARACTER THAN YOU NEED. INTEGRITY IS NOT ENOUGH TO BECOME IRRESISTIBLY ATTRACTIVE. 21. SEE HOW PERFECT THE PRESENT REALLY IS. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS CLEARLY NOT. 22. BECOME UNCONDITIONALLY CONSTRUCTIVE. HIGH LEVELS OF RESPECT ARE VERY ATTRACTIVE. 23. ORIENT EXCLUSIVELY AROUND YOUR VALUES. WHEN YOU SPEND YOUR DAYS DOING WHAT FULFILLS YOU, YOU ARE ATTRACTIVE. 24. SIMPLIFY EVERYTHING. ABANDONING THE NON-ESSENTIALS LEAVES MORE ROOM FOR YOU TO ATTRACT. 25. MASTER YOUR CRAFT. BEING THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO IS THE EASIEST WAY TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL. 26. RECOGNIZE AND TELL THE TRUTH. THE TRUTH IS THE MOST ATTRACTIVE THING OF ALL, BUT IT REQUIRES SKILLS AND AWARENESS. 27. HAVE A VISION. WHEN YOU CAN SEE WHAT'S COMING, YOU DON'T NEED TO CREATE A FUTURE. 28. BE MORE HUMAN. WHEN YOU ARE GENUINE, YOU ARE ATTRACTIVE. From 'The Portable Coach' by Thomas J. Leonard. www.thomasleonard.com
Part Three: BUSINESS COACHING GYM
When I was about 11 my parents divorced. It was as if everything was perfect and then we woke up one day and were told my parents were separating and getting a divorce. And, no - my father wouldn't be spending Christmas day with us. I remember crying for days over my new found sadness. It was such a big deal to me I didn't tell anyone for what seemed like forever. What our family experienced over the years that followed was seeing our father become a millionaire many times over and our mother (who grew up surrounded by wealth) lived at a near poverty level while tying to hide this fact from her children. My siblings and I made a decision we would never live like my mother - paycheck to paycheck. My sister went on to become a successful corporate lawyer and rainmaker for her firm. My brother is a well known investment banker in the oil and gas business who travels globally dispensing expertise. And my other sister a nurse, who works in the day surgery unit in a major Chicago hospital. As a result of this experience, seeing my mother's ability to produce enough income to sustain our lifestyle spiral downward while my father was on a wealth accumulation path caused me to never want to experience not having enough money or the required skills to get the results I needed. Therefore I have decided to spend my life helping other people grow their business and satisfying their needs of having enough money, time, and energy in order to produce breakthrough results.
So, you know how some people struggle to break through an existing level of success at which they have plateued? They lack time, organization and focus, constantly over commit, don't follow through, and are afraid of the competition? Which usually means they are working long hours, have lots of unnecessary stress, are disenchanted with the business, and of course, have less money in their pockets. Success Story
Deborah Iaboni President Iaboni Real Estate, Inc. If anyone had told me 3 years ago that I'd be writing this article I would have told them they were absolutely nuts.. I was caught up in the labyrinth of the corporate business world - working for one of the largest real estate investment trusts in the country, responsible for leasing over 7 million square feet of retail space in a 5 state region - raising a teenage son, newly married and, in general, feeling like I had no control over my life. When Cindy asked me to write down my 5-year vision it was as if a thunderbolt struck - all of a sudden it was there in black and white, staring me in the face - I had to make a change in the way my life was going in order to achieve true happiness, economic freedom and a quality of life that was vastly improved from the one I was currently experiencing. My 5-year vision was the picture of my "perfect life" - one that would encompass career, motherhood, marital success, community service, exercise and gardening, just to name a few things. Throughout my entire adult life I had always felt that I was lacking in virtually all of those things, except for a modicum of financial success. Sure, I made a nice living and had a beautiful child to show for the last 13 years of my life; however I always felt as if I would wake up in the morning with one foot already on the ground, playing "Beat the Clock" all day long. Today I have a different story to tell. My husband and I are not only life partners but we are partners in a successful corporate real estate business, we have a beautiful home with one of the most magnificent gardens imaginable, I volunteer weekly at a local school for the handicapped, I work out 3-4 times each week at a local gym, my son is thriving as a straight A student and football player, plus my annual income has more than doubled. Was it a difficult decision to venture out on my own? Yes and no. Yes, because I had never been without the safety net of a regular paycheck and all the other perks that come along with working for someone else. No, because I realized it was the only way that I could achieve the kind of happiness in my life that I so desperately wanted. I had spent so long reaching for that elusive brass ring and suddenly realized that I had to stop confusing my net worth with my self worth. I have successfully carved a niche for myself as a Landlord's leasing representative for new development of retail space and now have clients and projects all over the country. I work long hours, however my office is in a coach house behind our home so the commute is definitely one I can handle. My son knows where to find me at the end of the day and dinner is always a family affair - and that, in a nutshell, is my definition of having successfully achieved my "perfect life vision".
